Everlasting Blooms - Spring Bulbs in Pots

Crafted for continuous blooms from February through April, as each flower takes its turn to shine. The larger your pot, the more layers of beauty you can create. Even smaller pots, around 12" tall, can house quite a few bulbs to display. Here’s what you need:

  • Early Bulbs - Crocus, Snowdrops
  • Mid Bulbs - Daffodils
  • Late Bulbs - Tulips
  • Pot
  • Potting soil

Use the "lasagna" planting technique in a terracotta pot: start with a thick base of compost, then layer tulips, more compost, followed by daffodils, more compost, and top with snowdrops and a final layer of compost.

1. This is one of the Large pots I used, it’s about 24” tall and 20” wide at the top.

2. Add the Tulips first

Below is about 6” - 8” of compost, then the tulips spread out about 2 bulb sizes away from each other.

Compost added to cover by an inch and the next layer of tulips added.

It’s a good idea to have “late-season” tulips on the bottom, and “early” or “mid” season tulips on top.

3. Compost added and Daffodils next

The higher up you go the more bulbs you need as the space gets wider.

Follow this with more compost and then the crocus/snowdrops layer.

Here are the “recipes” I used for the pots I planted yesterday.

I have them in my fenced veg garden near the greenhouse, since deer will eat the tulips.

I’m not creating a wildlife buffet 😊

 Snowdrops Remembrance Crocus
Cassanova Daffodil Tahiti Daffodil
Apricot Fix Tulip Queen of the Night Tulip

And there you have it - I can’t wait to see them bloom next year, only a couple more months to go.
