April - A Look at the Everlasting Flower Pots
Share
I planted these in November 2024, taking advice from gardener Sarah Raven in the UK. She has a lovely book titled A Year Full of Pots - it's very informative and I've enjoyed reading it. I have 8 pots of various sizes filled with Tulips, Daffodils, Iris, Snowdrops and Crocus. Here's what I've learned so far:
- At the very beginning the crocus popped up and was nice to see some color, but they were quickly overtaken by the daffodil foliage. I didn't see any of the snowdrops pop up - but maybe it's the variety I chose didn’t do well.
- The daffodils with the heavy fully heads (split blossom and doubles) sometimes fall over in the rain - and we've had plenty of it this spring.
- Some of the early tulips were SUPER EARLY - beating out some of the daffodils still opening. This was true with Light and Dreamy and Design Impression. These also had the longest stems - 24" - if I were growing for cut flowers in crates, I'd for sure pick these varieties.

Will I do these again? Probably! But I'm going to wait until all of the bulbs have come up, so I can pick my favorites for next year!
